1. Introduction

Welcome to Steakora.com (“Steakora,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you visit or make a purchase from our website, steakora.com (the “Site”), use our services, or interact with us.

This policy covers:

  • What personal information we collect and why
  • How we use and share your information
  • Your rights and choices (including “Do Not Sell or Share” / targeted ads opt-out)
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies
  • Data security, retention, and international transfers

By using the Site, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.

Who we are (controller disclosure)

For most activities on the Site (accounts, marketing, analytics), Steakora is the controller of your personal information.
For marketplace order fulfillment, each independent merchant (ranch/seller) you purchase from also acts as a separate controller of the order data they receive. Merchants have their own privacy and data practices. We are not responsible for a merchant’s independent compliance. See Section 4.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide and improve our services:

a. Information You Provide Directly

  • Account & Profile: name, email, password, preferences, saved addresses.
  • Orders & Support: name, billing/shipping address, email, phone, items purchased, order notes, messages with us or sellers, and support content/attachments.
  • Payments (via Stripe): billing details. We do not store full credit card numbers. Stripe processes your payment information on our behalf; see Section 4.
  • Reviews & Public Content: ratings, written reviews, Q&A, and any images you upload (these may be public).
  • Marketing/SMS Opt-ins: your marketing and communications preferences; phone number if you opt into SMS.
  • Merchant/Seller Applications (if you sell on Steakora): business contact details, store name, tax/EIN, identity verification (KYC), payout/banking info (handled via Stripe Connect), and compliance documents.

b. Information Collected Automatically

  • Device & Usage: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, language, time zone, pages viewed, referring/exit pages, clickstream, and site interactions (e.g., add-to-cart events).
  • Cookies & Similar Tech: cookies, pixels, tags, SDKs, and web beacons to remember settings, measure performance, prevent fraud, and support advertising/retargeting. See Section 6.

c. Information From Third Parties

  • Merchants (Sellers): we receive data needed to operate the marketplace (e.g., order status/fulfillment/tracking updates, return/after-sales information).
  • Payments: from Stripe (e.g., payment status, tokenized identifiers, risk signals).
  • Analytics & Ads Partners: e.g., Google Analytics/GA4, Google Ads, Meta Pixel, and similar.
  • Logistics: carriers and shipping partners (e.g., tracking numbers, delivery confirmation).
  • Anti-Fraud & Security Services: e.g., IP reputation scores, device signals.
  • Social/Single-Sign-On (if enabled): if you log in via a social provider, they may share basic profile info per their settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide the Site & Marketplace: operate accounts, process and confirm orders, facilitate merchant fulfillment, provide customer and seller support.
  • Payments: process via Stripe and manage refunds/chargebacks.
  • Communications: order updates, transactional notices, service messages, and—if you consent—marketing emails/SMS. You may unsubscribe or reply STOP to SMS.
  • Personalization & Improvements: remember preferences, debug, analyze usage, improve products, content, UX, and features.
  • Safety, Security & Fraud Prevention: verify activity, detect/prevent fraud, abuse, and spam; secure accounts and the platform.
  • Advertising & Measurement: show and measure ads (including retargeting/interest-based ads) and evaluate campaigns (see Section 6 for choices).
  • Compliance & Legal: tax/audit requirements, responding to lawful requests, enforcing terms, and protecting our rights or users.

GDPR Legal Bases (EEA/UK users)

Where applicable, processing is based on: contract (e.g., to fulfill orders), legitimate interests (e.g., security, improvements), consent (e.g., certain cookies/marketing), and legal obligations (e.g., tax, bookkeeping).

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We may “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising/targeted ads as defined under some US state laws (see Section 5 for opt-out).

We share information with:

  • Merchants (Sellers): We transmit necessary order details (e.g., items, name, shipping address, phone/email, delivery notes) so the merchant can fulfill directly. Sellers are independent controllers of the data they receive and must handle their own compliance, marketing, and privacy requests concerning their use of your data.
  • Payment Processor (Stripe): We use Stripe to process payments and payouts. Stripe receives billing details, transaction info, and risk signals. We do not store full card numbers. See Stripe’s privacy notice (available at stripe.com/privacy) and, for payouts, Stripe Connect terms.
  • Service Providers/Processors: hosting, customer support, email/SMS services, analytics, security and fraud tools, cloud storage, and marketing tools—bound by contracts to use data only to provide services to us.
  • Logistics & Carriers: shipping labels, tracking, and delivery updates.
  • Advertising & Analytics Partners: to measure site usage and show relevant ads (e.g., GA4, Google Ads, Meta).
  • Legal & Safety: to comply with laws, subpoenas, or protect rights, property, and safety.
  • Business Transfers: as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

5. Your Privacy Rights & Choices

Your rights depend on your location. Subject to verification and exceptions, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your information.
  • Portability: receive certain information in a portable format.
  • Opt-Out of “Sale”/“Sharing”/Targeted Ads (US state laws): opt-out of cross-context behavioral advertising and disclosure to third parties for those purposes.
  • Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information (where applicable).
  • Object/Restrict certain processing (EEA/UK).
  • Withdraw Consent at any time (EEA/UK) where processing is based on consent.
  • Appeal a decision on your privacy request (VA/CO/CT, where applicable).

How to exercise your rights:
Email [email protected] or use Your Privacy Choices (opt-out form/link). For California users, we honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a request to opt-out of “sale”/“sharing” for the browser that sends the signal.

Authorized Agents (CA): If you use an agent, we may require proof of authorization and verification of your identity.
Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising rights.

Marketing Choices

  • Email: Unsubscribe via footer links or contact us.

  • Ads: See Section 6 for cookie/ads controls.

6. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you signed in, remember preferences, and support site functions
  • Measure site performance (e.g., GA4)
  • Prevent fraud and secure the Site
  • Support advertising and retargeting (e.g., Google Ads, Meta Pixel)

Your choices:

  • Browser controls: You can block/clear cookies; some features may not work without them.
  • Cookie banner/settings: Use our on-site cookie controls (if available) to manage categories (e.g., Essential, Analytics, Advertising).
  • Global Privacy Control: We treat GPC as a “Do Not Sell or Share” request for that browser/session.
  • Platform opt-outs: Google Ad Settings; Meta Ad Preferences; industry tools like the DAA/NAI opt-out pages.

For details, see our Cookie Policy.

7. Data Security

We implement administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information (e.g., encryption in transit, access controls, vendor due diligence). However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If we believe the security of your information has been compromised, we will follow applicable notification laws.

Payments: Card data is processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS compliant provider. We do not store full card numbers on our systems.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide services (e.g., while you have an account or to fulfill an order), comply with legal/financial obligations (e.g., tax, accounting, and audit), resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. We may also retain de-identified or aggregated data.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe a child provided us information, contact [email protected].
California residents under 16: we do not knowingly “sell” or “share” personal information of users under 16.

10. Marketplace & Merchant Responsibilities

  • Merchant Fulfillment: Orders are fulfilled directly by the merchant you purchase from. We transmit order details so they can process, ship, and provide support for your purchase.
  • Separate Policies: Merchants may have their own privacy policies and marketing practices. Review the merchant’s privacy policy before purchasing.
  • Direct Communications: Merchants may contact you about your order (e.g., delivery issues, returns).
  • Privacy Requests: If you send us a privacy request about data the merchant controls, we may route your request to the merchant and/or advise you to contact them directly.
  • Selling on Steakora: If you are a merchant, you must comply with applicable privacy and marketing laws, provide appropriate notices to your customers, and honor privacy rights requests applicable to your processing.

11. International Data Transfers

We are based in the United States. If you are outside the US, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data protection laws. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) for transfers.

12. California Notice at Collection (CA Residents)

We collect the following categories of personal information: Identifiers, Customer Records, Commercial Information, Internet/Network Activity, Geolocation (approximate), Inferences, and, for merchants, Professional/Employment and Financial Information. We collect for the purposes described in Section 3 and retain as described in Section 8.
We do not sell personal information for money. We may “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To opt-out, use Your Privacy Choices or send a GPC signal. We do not use or disclose Sensitive Personal Information for purposes requiring a “Limit the Use” link beyond those permitted by law.

13. Nevada & Other State Notices

Nevada residents may submit a request to opt-out of the sale of covered information at [email protected]. For VA/CO/CT/UT residents, see Section 5 for rights and appeals.

14. Third-Party Links & Services

The Site may link to third-party websites or enable integrations (e.g., Stripe checkout, social logins). We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before providing personal information.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. The “Last Updated” date will reflect the latest changes. Material changes will be posted on the Site and, where required, we will notify you.
